Argentina ▪ La Zona Freshwater Dorado
Home to dozens of world records
La Zona is "home of the monsters." More than 200 dorado over 40-pounds have been caught in the last three years. Over ten fly-fishing world records have been broken at this lodge. It is the prime feeding grounds for the largest golden dorado on earth.
This exclusive fishery allows no more than four anglers per day. Fish from 21' fiberglass console boats with 90 h.p. Yamaha motors and two big casting platforms.
Peak Season is December to mid-May when the Uruguay River is at its lowest. Topwater lures and flies are best. Mid-August to November, the river is at its normal flow, and huge schools of big dorado migrate to the dam to spawn. Rapala and similar crankbaits are hot during this time.
Cozy lodge has four air-conditioned bedrooms with private baths. A ranch setting with swimming pool, open bar, exquisite food and friendly staff.
Includes: Lodging, meals, open bar (beer and red wines) guided fishing, fishing license, internet access, commercial flight from Buenos Aires to Concordia and ground transfers to lodge.
