Los Roques National Park Bonefish
and Rio Chico Baby Tarpon
| 2011 Hosted Week: |
| ● March 5-12 with Larry Schoenborn |
Three days bonefishing at Los Roques and three-days baby tarpon fishing at Rio Chico National Park. This is Larry’s favorite bonefish spot teamed with his favorite baby tarpon spot.
Rio Chico is excellent for baby tarpon in the 2 to 10-pound size with some up to 40-pounds. We've had clients who've had a 100+ takes in a day. 16' aluminum boats, powered by outboard motors with native guides. Two anglers per boat and guide.
At Rio Chico, you'll stay at Tortuga Lodge which is five minutes away from some of the best tarpon spots on the lagoon. This is the only lodge allowed within Laguna de Tacarigua National Park. This bird sanctuary is famous for its large number of scarlet ibis. The lodge offers nine comfortable villas on a beautiful Caribbean beach.
At Los Roques, experienced anglers often land and release twenty plus bonefish in a single day. Most bones weigh three to six pounds. Some over ten pounds are landed. A fourteen pounder was landed in our 2008 hosted group. You’ll be guided approximately 9-hours per day, two anglers per boat with separate guide and driver who picks you up after hiking the flats.
Los Roques National Park barrier reef is one of the most prolific and spectacular bonefisheries in the world. There are more than 350 bays, flats and 45 small islands with the best wading anywhere. Air conditioned rooms with satellite TV and phone. Superb cuisine with European flair. Tastefully furnished lodge with open bar.
