Kain's Fishing Adventures

Sitka, Alaska is only a 2-hour direct flight from Seattle. Sitka is the only town in Southeast Alaska that faces the Gulf of Alaska head-on. Sitka is on the migratory route of almost every run of Chinook and silver salmon returning to British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. No other place on the West Coast plays host to salmon in such continuous abundance.

Kain's Fishing Adventures

Kain's King Salmon Fishing

King Salmon:  Kain's fishing season begins in early May with the mighty king salmon. Peak king salmon fishing is mid-May through mid-July. Kings are the largest of the five species of salmon with an average weight of 12 to 30-pounds; although 40-to 70-pounders are not uncommon.
Silver (Coho) salmon:  From mid-July through mid-September, huge schools of acrobatic silvers move into Sitka waters. Silvers average 6-to 20-pounds and provide fast-and-furious action.
Halibut:  The halibut fishing in Sitka is consistently outstanding. Halibut ranging from 15-to 300-pounds are abundant all season.
Sitka doesn't have to contend with strong tidal currents meaning you can fish for halibut any time of the day. These conditions allow anglers the opportunity to fish for multiple species each day. It's quite common to catch halibut, salmon and other bottomfish all in the same day.

Kain's Fishing Boats and Captains:

Kain's Fishing Adventures

Kain’s fishing boats:  The Lodge employs four 30-32’ custom-built Almar boats with a 360-degree walk-around deck, allowing each angler plenty of room to fish forward, side and aft. Their warm, dry cabins provide seating for six. There is an enclosed toilet. The vessels are equipped with state-of–the-art fish-finding electronics, navigation, and communication. Plus smoke-free, quiet four-stroke twin outboards. You’ll spend up to ten hours a day fishing on these boats.
Captains and crew: U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains who know the Sitka waters and helpful deckhands. The owner, Greg Kain, had over twenty years of experience leading fishing adventures.
Fishing equipment: Your fishing days include the best equipment:  G. Loomis Rods, Shimano line counter reels, Avet 2-speed halibut reels, and all the tackle and bait. Upon request, Kain's has left-handed reels and single-action mooching reels available for your use. Raingear and rubber boots are also provided.

That way it can accompany you back home as checked baggage.
