The Isla Blanca Flats

Tarpon fishing with Fin Chasers at the Isla Blanca Fishery, often called the northern Quintana Roo backcountry.

The Isla Blanca Fishery is often called the northern Quintana Roo backcountry, often called the northern Quintana Roo backcountry, spans 50 nautical miles from Río Manatee (just north of Cancun) to Cabo Catoche, where the Caribbean meets the Gulf of Mexico. This vast network of shallow saltwater flats, turquoise bays, and mangrove lagoons provides ideal conditions for sight casting to tarpon, permit, and snook.
Compared to heavily fished destinations like Ascension Bay, Isla Blanca offers lighter pressure and quieter backcountry waters, making it especially appealing for anglers seeking a more intimate experience.
