Fly Fishing Cosmoledo Atoll

Giant Trevally fishing

Cosmoledo’s large white sand flats, lagoon edges, and channels are without question ruled by the notorious giant trevally, so much so that it is often referred to as “the GT capital of the world.” GT’s are, however, not the only species found here. Cosmoledo’s pristine ecosystem is also home to impressive numbers of bonefish, bluefin trevally, bohar snapper, barracuda, the fabled milkfish, permit, wahoo, and triggerfish. The fishery caters to twelve anglers each week. The fishing is very tide-dependent, so the prevailing conditions will dictate which species you’ll focus on. You are able to fish the vast expanse of flats, lagoons, channels, and reefs for your desired species. The factors controlling the numbers of fish caught are weather, the timing of the tides, the decision to go for size or quantity, and perhaps most importantly, skill.
