Cosmoledo Atoll Fishing

Ultimate Saltwater Flats

Eco-Camp Resort

Cosmoledo Atoll, often hailed as the “GT Capital of the World,” is a remote and pristine fishery in the Seychelles region of the Indian Ocean. Encompassing a vast white-sand lagoon encircled by 18 untouched islands, Cosmoledo lies roughly 1,000 kilometers (639 miles) southwest of Mahé, the Seychelles’ main island. The atoll’s only accommodation is an eco-friendly, land-based resort on Wizard Island. Due to its isolation and lack of an airstrip, guests reach this bucket-list destination via a scenic two-hour sail aboard a 36-foot vessel from nearby Astove Atoll.
2026 Rates:  start at $18,790.00 per person for 7-nights and 6-days guided fishing.

Cosmoledo Atoll

Amidst the 18 islands forming the Cosmoledo Atoll, lies a white sand lagoon surrounded by wadeable pancake flats. This lagoon's two main channels teem with diverse marine species, and proves a playground for anglers.

Cosmoledo Atoll is a vast white-sand lagoon fringed by seven primary islands, expansive pancake flats, and two dominant channels that facilitate tidal flow. The atoll’s perimeter is lined with extensive wadeable flats, interspersed with coral heads and scattered islets—creating optimal structure for targeting a variety of species. These dynamic flats serve as prime feeding zones for giant trevally, bonefish, triggerfish, and milkfish, among others. The consistent tidal exchange, combined with minimal fishing pressure and ideal light conditions, makes Cosmoledo one of the most technically rewarding and visually engaging saltwater fly fisheries on the planet.

Fly Fishing Cosmoledo Atoll

Angler with Giant Trevally

The Atoll's sizeable white sand flats, lagoon edges, and channels are ruled by the notorious giant trevally, so much so that it is often regarded as “the GT capital of the world.”
Species:  Fish the vast expanse of flats, lagoons, channels, and reefs for your desired species. Cosmoledo’s pristine ecosystem is also home to impressive numbers of bonefish, bluefin trevally, bohar snapper, milkfish, permit, triggerfish, and more. Sailfish, yellowfin tuna, barracuda, and wahoo can be teased to the surface with poppers. The fishing is very tide-dependent, so the prevailing conditions will dictate which species to focus on.

Map of Cosmoledo Atoll

Weather:  From December through April (the Lodge season), Cosmoledo Atoll offers hot, humid weather with midday highs near 90°F and generally calm seas—especially in April, the hottest and driest month. December sees more rainfall but still offers excellent fishing conditions. The Lodge season is prime for giant trevally (with reports of 200+ GTs landed in a week), along with bonefish, triggerfish, Indo-Pacific permit, milkfish, and bluewater species like wahoo, tuna, and sailfish. Spring tides and new/full moons bring especially strong action on the flats. With steady temperatures and a variety of species in peak form, this is the best time to fish Cosmoledo.
